Kathleen Y’Barbo first discovered her love of books when, at the age of four, she stumbled on her grandmother’s encyclopedias. Letters became words, and words became stories of far-away places and interesting people. Eventually Kathleen learned that her love of story could carry her off to places far beyond her small East Texas town. Then she hit the road for real, earning a degree in Marketing from Texas A&M before setting off to such locales as Jakarta, Tokyo, Bali, Sydney, Hong Kong and Singapore. Finally, though, the road led back to Texas.
Before joining Books & Such, Kathleen served as a literary publicist at Glass Road Public Relations. In that capacity, Kathleen worked on book campaigns for such authors as Brandilyn Collins, DiAnn Mills, John Aubrey Anderson, Tracey Bateman, Janice A. Thompson, Marvin Olasky, and others. She is a member of the Public Relations Society of America, and has secured interviews with radio, television, and print media for clients at Hatchette, NavPress, Integrity, Broadman & Holman, and Barbour Publishing, to name a few.
Kathleen is equally at home talking to a reporter at the New York Times as she is pitching a guest to producers at Entertainment Tonight or Good Morning America. She likes to think beyond the typical in creating book campaigns, and often uses current events as a starting point for promotion.
In addition to her skills as a publicist, Kathleen is also a best-selling author of more than thirty novels, novellas, and young adult books. In all, more than half a million copies of her books are currently in print in the US and abroad.
The girl who only dreamed of books now is thrilled to tell the world about them. “Nothing is more fun than letting the world know about great books and talented authors. Janet may disagree, but I think I’ve got the best job at Books & Such. I know I wouldn’t trade the work I do for anything.”
Kathleen’s services are available to all Books & Such clients.
